What is Davis foamcraft?
Foamcraft is a new (as of June 2023) graduate student organization focused on promoting the sport of blaster tag (Nerf) and the technical skills that surround it. Towards this goal we plan to host free, causal no-experience-no-equipment needed blaster tag games that will be open to all graduate students and the wider Davis community (bring your friends!).
We also plan to host "mod" nights, again with a no-experience-no-equipment required emphasis. Mod nights will be focused on learning and using Nerf blaster modding skills such as 3D printing, mechanical assembly, computer assisted design (CAD), microcontroller programming and basic electrical engineering to improve existing blasters or build them completely from scratch. While Nerf is the primary substrate material for these events, they are really about learning and using technical skills in fun and creative ways!
If you would like to learn more about what Nerf as hobby means and it's amazing community please read this article by Ethan Holleman.Â
